Laxity or sagging of the breast, known as breast ptosis, is a natural part of aging. Breast tissue can start to sag as a response to pregnancy and childbirth, an effect of breastfeeding, or a byproduct of time. A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, can reposition sagging breast tissue to create a restored aesthetic shape and appearance. Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons is pleased to provide breast lifts to our patients in Renton, WA and Maple Valley, WA.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

If you have noticed your breasts beginning to sag or your nipples starting to droop, you are an ideal candidate for a breast lift. Additionally, you should be in good health overall, be finished having children, and be willing to accept faint scars on your breasts to achieve a better and more youthful breast shape. Of course, you should have a consultation with our plastic surgeons at Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons to determine if a breast lift is right for you.

Breast Lift Procedure Process Explained

After you arrive at our surgery center and are placed under anesthesia, your surgeon will create incisions that allow the breast tissue to be lifted and repositioned. The technique and incision types will vary depending on your aesthetic goals, and your surgeon will review the expected incision pattern with you prior to surgery.

Recovery after a breast lift can last about 2-6 weeks. You will need to wear compression garments to control swelling during this time.

While your surgeon will do everything possible to minimize or conceal scarring, some visible scarring should be expected following a breast lift.

Assuming you follow aftercare instructions and maintain a healthy lifestyle, the results of your breast lift should last for many years. However, having children and breastfeeding after a mastopexy can change the results of the mastopexy. Therefore, we recommend waiting until you are finished having children before having a breast lift.
